At Mindful Yoga, we cultivate a sacred, supportive space where everyone can connect deeply with their breath, body, and inner stillness. Our community thrives when we practice mutual respect, kindness, and mindfulness toward ourselves and each other.
By entering our space, you agree to help maintain this peaceful environment. Thank you for honoring these guidelines—they allow every student to fully arrive in their practice.
Before Class
- Arrive on time (ideally 20–25 minutes early) Please arrive in time to check in calmly, change if needed, set up your mat quietly, and settle in. Doors may close shortly after class begins to preserve the group’s focus and meditative entry. If you arrive late, please enter quietly and set up in the back row without disruption.
- Silence phones and leave devices outside the practice room We ask that you turn phones completely off (not just silent) and leave them in the lobby, locker, or car. This helps everyone unplug and be fully present.
- Remove shoes Please leave shoes in the designated area or lobby. The practice space is kept as a clean, sacred area—bare feet only.
- Personal hygiene & scents Come freshly showered with clean clothes and a clean mat/towel. Please avoid strong perfumes, colognes, essential oils, or heavily scented products, as many in our community are sensitive or have allergies.
- Keep voices low in shared areas Speak softly in the lobby, hallways, and changing rooms so as not to disturb classes already in session.
In the Practice Room
- Respect personal space Place your mat with awareness of others—leave enough room for safe movement (about an arm’s length if possible). Be willing to adjust your mat slightly to welcome latecomers or make the room more balanced.
- Move & set up quietly Place mats, blocks, straps, and blankets down gently. Avoid loud rustling or dropping props.
- Silence during class Refrain from talking once class begins (including during centering and savasana). Save conversations for the lobby after class. Quiet breathing, soft ujjayi, or occasional natural sounds are welcome—loud talking, grunting, or commentary is not.
- Stay for the full class Please remain until the end of savasana (final relaxation). Leaving early disrupts the group’s energy and the teacher’s closing. If you must leave early for any reason, please exit quietly before savasana begins.
- Injury or limitations Inform your teacher privately before class about any injuries, health conditions, or modifications needed. We encourage listening deeply to your body and taking rest as often as you need—no judgment, only self-compassion.
- Adjustments & consent Teachers may offer gentle hands-on adjustments to deepen your practice. If you prefer no physical adjustments, please let your teacher know (verbally or by placing a “no touch” card near your mat if we provide them).
After Class
- Leave the space as you found it Put away props neatly, wipe down borrowed mats/equipment if used, and take all personal items with you.
- Savasana is sacred Remain resting until the teacher gently invites you to move. This closing integration is a vital part of the practice for everyone.
General Community Guidelines
- Practice kindness and non-judgment toward yourself and others.
- Be open to all levels—everyone’s practice looks different.
- If you’re unsure about anything, feel free to ask a teacher or staff member—we’re here to support you.
Thank you for being part of the Mindful Yoga sangha (community). Your presence and mindful attention make this space more peaceful and healing for everyone.
